I've been testing SimplePie a bit more:
An Aggregation of some scots-edu-bloggers. This is now a static page, updated every hour, or by refreshing.
This speeds up the loading of the page. Refresed from a cron job.
I've found some feeds don't seem to work, e.g. David's first feedburner feed doesn't work with SiplePie, but this one: EdCompCast: a podcast friendly feed does. I can't get Digital Katies to work either.
But apart from that I am quite happy at the moment.

That looks like a really useful tool John. It would be great if we could have some aggregated feeds from Scotedublogs, or give people the ability to create their own ‘pick and choose’ feed?

Hi Andrew,
That should be doable, at the moment it gets the feed from a list in a file, could be adjusted to use different lists, let folk choose etc. I wonder if anyone has a complete list of Scotedublogs feeds?

Hiya, thanks for trying to add me to the feeds. My feedburner feed might work better: http://feeds.feedburner.com/Digitalkatie..

Hi Katie,
I’d tried that one too.
David M has 2 feedburner feeds and only the ‘podcast’ one works with simplepie. I don’t understand why.
