31 January 08 - 13:57Burns Assembly

Today was our burns assembly. We were supposed to do it last week but wecouldn't because we had to go out in the morning and there wasn’t enough time for us to it in the afternoon. In our assembly there were seven poems and four songs. The names of the song are Rantin Rovin Robin, A Red Red Rose, Scott’s, Wha Hae and Auld Lang Syne. The poems are To A mouse, A Mans A Man for A that and much more. The poem that I had to say was To A mouse. There were narrators. We had to say our assembly in front of the school. The assembly didn’t go on for long. There was a boy in my class that had to act out some of the parts in the assembly before the song red Red Rose he had to give some of the girls roses I didn’t get one.
One of our teachers played the key board for a few of the songs. At the end of the assembly we thanked the teacher for playing the keyboard and the children for listing. The teacher that played the keyboard got a box of chocolates. I thought that the assembly went really good because only one or two people forgot their words.

30 January 08 - 09:43To a mouse

To a mouse

Wee sleeket cowran tim’rous beastie,
O, what panic’s in thy breastie!
Thou need na start awa sae hasty,
Wi’ bickering brattle!i wad be laith to rin an’ chase thee,
Wi’ murd’ring pattle!

I’m truly sorry mans dominion
Has broken natures social union,
An justifies that ill opinion,
Which makes thee startle,
At me thy poor earthborn companion,
An’ fellow mortal

Thy wee- bit housie, too, in ruin!
It’s silly wa’s the win’s are strewin!
An’ blek December’s winds ensuing,
Baith snell an’ keen

But mousie thou are no thy-lane,
In proving foresight may be vain:
The best laid schemes o’ mice an’ men,
Gang aft agley
An’ lea’e us nought but grief an’ pain
For promise’d joy,

Still, thou art blest, compar’d wi’ me!
The present only toucheth thee:
But och! I backwards cast my e’e,
On prospect drear!
An’ forward , tho’ I canna see,
I guess an fear!

29 January 08 - 11:31Kenning Poem

Born racer

A born racer
A good pacer

A great jumper
A loud thumper

A fast runner
A brown stunner

A show stopper
A high hopper

A swing tail
A brow male

A catalogue to make me a horse
