Finally it is the summer holidays and we are away from school. Today in school we had a sandals, shorts and shades sing-along. The sing-along was great. Me, Karen , Caroline, Chelsea and Counrtney had to go to the front of the the full school and perform a dance because we were so good at it when we were dancing in the classroom. Everyone got an ice lolly. I thought it was a perfect way to end the day. We also got to have a bubble party that was when everyone went out into the playground and got bubbles and blew them everywhere. Today in school was absoloutly amazing
Today in school was Quiz Day.
Quiz day is when the four houses get together into groups of 4, Primary 4, 5, 6 and primary 7. They have to answer questions that they get asked questions.
Some of the questions were for them to answer in groups and some were for them to answer by themselves. They were not allowed to ask their group for help.
Tomorrow is the church service and on Thursday it is fun day. Friday is the sandals and shades sing-a-long.
The bees are flying
The are almost stinging so
Avoid there stingers
Apples grow on trees
Babies do not
So worship mammals
Roasting in the daytime
Warm at night and to hot
Schools out thank the school.
Today we went out to the garden and wrote down some poems. We had an inspiration from some poems out of “The Works”. We Got the chalks from our friend in America.
Children play and scream
In the sun on the soft beach
Playing sporty games
Children play and scream
Bees buzzing fast and ready
Ready to sting at anytime
This afternoon we wrote a haiku poem on a piece of paper and then we got sidewalk chalk and went out into the school garden and wrote them on the ground.
This is my Gyro Swings. We did it with K-nex because Mr Johnston said we could do something fun. We have been learning about K-nex in P6. There was a instruction book and thats found out how to make this. It was very hard to make the swings. The swings turn round and go up and down when they are spun the seats can also be spun. It was great fun!
On Monday I went to Scotland Street School. It was really scary! Our teacher was so strict! She wrote the date on the main board, it was: 4th of June 1887.
First we went to get dressed in our costumes. The girls had to wear a white frilly dress. The boys had to wear a collar and waistcoat.
Then we went to line up, girls came out of their dressing room and had to line up tallest to smallest. Boys did the same.
Then we went outside the classroom. The boys were already there. We had to put our right hand up in the air and place it on the shoulder of the person in front of you. This was to get our distant. Then we put our hand down and the teacher came out.
She seemed nice at first but to groups of 2 went in and she yelled at the top of her voice “DON’T TOUCH ANTTHING ON YOUR DESK!” And everyone jumped back! We had to sit at a desk for 2 people only, a boy and a girl.
Everyone went in and there was 3 girls left, so the 2 girls in front of me sat next to each other and I was left by myself (I hated being the tallest at that point, the rest of the time it’s good) She told me I had to sit by my self behind the two girls in front of me.
The first thing we done was chant our times tables which we are all good at but I was so nervous. We had to say them up to 12. Then she went around to the blackboard and there was a clock face.
In the middle she put a number for example times3. then she round the class and pointed to a number on the clock face. When it got to my turn I felt really scared that I might forget the answer.
After that we looked at another board, which had the alphabet on it. She pointed to a letter on the board and you had to put up your hand and if she choose you, you had to stand up and say a boys name, a girls name or an animals name that begin with the same letter and after that you had to say mam after you said the name e.g. “a- Albert, mam.” Then we had to write the alphabet, IN VICTORIAN WRITING! It was so hard.
Then she said she was going to ring a bell and we would go back to being 2007 children. When she rang the bell everyone relaxed and started to laugh. Then she rang the bell again after explaining.
Then she went to being a janitor. He gave us a health lesson. We had to get up and do start jumps. That’s really all I can remember about when she was a janitor.
Then she rang the bell again and everyone got up and went back to the dressing room to get changed again.
On Wednesday p6sj and m went to the bridge when we went we meet up with st. Stephen’s.
We had lunch then we got put in to groups the groups were red, yellow and purple and there was three activities they were doing a canvas and break dancing and doing a logo.
On Wednesday we went to the Bridge. We met up with the children from St. Stephens Primary. We met up to get to know each other because in Primary 7 we will be doing an Enterprise project, which involves us going to College. Sandaig Primary School and St. Stephens Primary School have been chosen out of lots of schools for this Enterprise.
Anyway, we went into the Auditorium and got a talk about sectarianism. First we got separated into different groups and got gave out cards. We had to separate them into Agree, Maybe and Disagree.
Next my group went behind the curtain and got to do break dancing. Two men called Johnall and Alan told us how to do different things like the Sitep and Baby freeze. It was hard for me to do the Baby Freeze because I had injured my shoulder and it kept cracking.
After that we went back to our seats and got called out for lunch. Then my group made logos. We had to make logos that had something to do with Friendship. After we had finished, we chose a Logo from each table and then voted for the best one. Next we went to do urban art. There were 2 men that were graffiti artists. I told one of them what I wanted to write and chose a style from a magazine and he drew it for me. I wrote ……… Friends 4 Ever
Last Wednesday P6S/J and P6M were at Easterhouse, The Bridge with another school called St Stevens. When we first got there we all had to shout and wave our hands and get our picture taken.
Then we got split into 3 groups, Purple, Yellow and Red, and had to sit down according on what colour you were.
After we were into groups we had to put words into Agree, Disagree and depends but I didn’t get to do that because me and another boy got taken out to do break dancing with Johnall and Alan and get my photo taken.
When I came in after the Break dancing we got a snack. I got an Orange and Apple juice.
Then we went away with a lady and a man who were showing us how to do logos. We had to do a logo all about Friendship and then pick the best one, Callums one won.
After that we went into the main hall again and there were 2 men with graffiti books and we had to write in graffiti about friendship. The men were very good at doing graffiti. I got one of the men to write Help others on a piece of paper then I copied it on to a canvas board then coloured it in with paint pens.
After that we got lunch. I got gammon sandwiches, a double decker sweet and Roast chicken crisps. It was a nice lunch.
Then it was our last activity, Break Dancing! We went on to the stage where Johnall and Alan were. They were showing us how to do Freezes and other dances. It was brilliant. Then we made up our own routine with our partners. I think that was the best activity!
On Wednesday we went on a trip to the bridge to meet the other St Stephen’s school. We got into groups and read out cards and decide to agree, disagree or it depends. Then we had lunch. We all had a chat. Then the good stuff came.
There was break dancing. When Johno and Alan showed us what they could do it looked amazing. Then we got split up into two groups. Some people went with Alan and some went with Johno. Johno did lot’s head stands and freezes and lot’s of that stuff. Alan did some body popping and he can do the moon walk it looked so cool. Then at the end we had to get in a circle and go in the middle and do something you knew or just learned.
Then there was logo designing. They gave us lots of stationary to use. They told us to pick a shape and put a word like friends 4 ever and best Friends. You could have done lots of different fonts. Then we coloured them in put them on cardboard and pick three of the best and vote the best.
Then there was Graffiti. You had to pick a graffiti font and ask him to do it for you. But again you had to write friends 4 ever or be kind and that stuff. Then you had to copy it on a canvas and colour it in with paint pens. Or you could do the whole thing your self. We got to take them home.
Last week we went to the Bridge to have a friendship day with St Stephens
school. We were giving stickers either purple yellow and red. What ever one you got was the group you were in.
First we were to sort sentences into different collumns, I agree, I disagree or
it depends. For example: you can tell what people are buy what they were.
Then we had a snack
My group went to do the friendship logos. I drew 2 friends shaking hands at
the park.
Then we had to choose who’s was the best. Then we had lunch.
After that we moved on to drawing on the canvas with the paint pens.
I wrote at the top st Stephens in the middle I drew a circle with two hands
shaking
And down at the bottom sandaig. Then I coloured it all in.
Then we went on to break dancing we learned how to dance and move like
Robots. One of the men did a back flip off the wall.
We were learning how to do cartwheels.
On Wednesday all the P6s went to The Bridge and so did ST Stephens. When we got out of the bus we saw the children form ST Stephens a couple of seconds ahead of us. When we got in the bridge we went into this room and it was called the Auditorium. The children from ST Stephens looked like they had been in the Auditorium for hours and hours but they had only been in there for about 2 seconds. The teachers came round with stickers with faces on them the faces were was purple, red and yellow. I was in the Yellow group. Then when got into our groups there were a lot of red and purple people but hardly any yellows. Then we played a game and it was about how to judge people and how not too. After that we did graffiti art and we got a book of graffiti so we knew what designs we could do. We did that for about 1 hour. Then we went behind the curtains and there were two men. They were there because we were going to be doing break dancing. We did lots of moves the one that sticks out in my mind was the freeze. After the break dancing we moved on to logos. The logos were about friendship.
On Wednesday we went to the Bridge with St Stevenson’s to meet each other. First we got in to groups and sorted out the card underneath the right card; agree, disagree and it depends.
Then we did a logo for friendship day. Then we went to the table and had some fruit water or you could have juice.
Next we had lunch. Then we done graffiti drawing first we did it on a bit paper then caritas it was fun. Finally we did break dancing then said good-bye.
Yesterday primary 6 went to the Bridge for a friendship day. When we were there we met St.Stephens. We all got a sticker that had a colour on it, that was the groups we were in.
The purple group went to drawing a logo first, then the yellow group to draw a friendship picture. First you got a big piece of paper and you had to draw plan out what you were going to draw on your canvas. Once you were finished planning you had to either draw it on to the canvas yourself or get one of the men to draw it for you.
When that was finished if you wanted to colour it in you had to use paint pens.
In the break dancing there were 2 different men that do different kinds of dancing. One of the men done smooth dancing and robotic dancing and the other man was doing hip hop and brake and freezes. It was so cool to have an experience to do this kind of stuff. Then we went on to the last activity which was making a logo of friends.
We had to listen to the people whose name was Jamie and Natalie they were really good at helping to figure out stuff. Then when we finished them we put them on the table we chose the winner for our group then the 3 finalists went up and the audience chose the winner the winner was a girl from St. Stephens.
On Thursday p6s/j were recording a French conversion with each other. Two went up at a time, and our teacher Mr Johnston was the one who recorded it. Mrs Douce is the person who teaches us French because she was born in France and she’s got a French accent.
Mrs Douce can also talk in our language, which is Scottish. We went into the music room and recorded it. When we recorded it we had a rehearsal first, then we did the real thing. I had to do it with a boy named Steven. He kept on getting it wrong and forgot some of the questions that he had to ask me. One of the questions was “What is the date today?” He forgot how to say that in French. We had to bring in the black board because we might have forgotten how to say things in French.
On Sunday the 17 of June I will be going to Greece for 2 weeks. I will be going to Greece with my Gran and Grandad. Nearly every year I go to Greece with my Gran and Grandad. I think we go there nearly every year because it is a really nice country. After 2 days of being there my cousin Chloe will be coming over for a week. When they go home we will still have a few days to our self. Before we get on the plain we have to wait 3 hours in the airport. My brother and me will spend some money on the toy machine. My Gran told us not to spend a lot of money on the machine because most of the time we don’t win anything. Last year when we were in Greece I won a pink rabbit and I got to take it out to dinner with us it was really fun. Even though we go to Greece every time I love going there and I will never get tired of going to Greece. When I come back school will not be on because it will be the summer holidays. Yippeeeeeee.
12 June 07 - 14:55Report on scotland street school
On Monday p6s/j and p6m went to Scotland street museum. They had a Victorian classroom. First we dress in Victorians clothes we lined up in two lines the teacher was really scary.
She told us were to sit all of us needed to call her mam. Then we had to stand up to pray then we sat back down again. Next we said are; two, three, four, five times table two times in a row. Next we did metal maths one to five.
Then we said the alphabet then the Victorian name of girls and boys and animal. Next we did handwriting it was very hard.
Finally she rang the bell and told us about us then she rang it again and she was the janitor.

In Spain they speak Castilian, Catalan, Galician, Euskera and Spanish is the official language. Spain and Portugal joined the European Union at the same time in 1986.

Today six of p6sj went to sandaig nursery to see the children who are coming Nur
o tschool next year. And we met six people but out of the six. I got Mathew then he took me to the big room to get toy animals. I heard he loves his animals , we got three tigers , zebra and a hippo we played with them for five minutes then Mathew wanted to go and get some books and read them for the rest of the day.
Today I went to nursery to see who would be my buddy next year, when I am in p7. When we first got in I was nervous seeing my old nursery again. I think they got rid of the house because when I was in the purple group I got to play in it all day long.
I was asking 4 year olds to help me round because it has changed so much. When we got partnered up with the buddys I think my buddey was scared of me but when I got to know them they were fine. I said to the teacher that was taking us "I feel like 4 again".
Today some children went to Sandaig nursery and we were told we were to play with a child. I got a little girl called Demi. When we were getting a toy she choosed a jigsaw. The jigsaw was an under the sea one. Once we had put the jigsaw together she asked me if I could read her a book. So I read her “buckets”. It was a boy who wanted a bucket for his birthday but his mum and dad kept saying no then they said YES!
He got a bucket and his parents ask to use it .He says no. His dad wants to use it for the car but he says no. The little boy goes to bed. He wakes up and his dad has used the bucket for the car but the big whale came out of the bucket.
