23 December 06 - 20:28Christmas Eve
Yay! its Christmas eve tomorrow. I have been asking for a lot of present the past few days. When my mum comes back from the shops she allways says "I got you something you would really like today". I have been really excited and hyper. Oh and yesterday when it was our last day of school a man from Peru came to put on a show for us. At first he he was a mime and he was doing things like pulling an imaganary rope and he got some people up to help him. He was very good at making ballons he made a dog, a loveheart, a flower and a butterfly. Then he changed in to an acrobatic person. He was doing dangerous things too.
It was really really really good!

The Thaumatrope
The Thaumatrope was one of the earliest and the simplest toy made in the Victorian times. The Victorians were really fascinated with the Thaumatrope because it had pictures that move. Victorian children were fascinated in toys with pictures that moved. The Thaumatrope is just a stick with a disc and a picture on either side. To use the Thaumatrope you just need to rub your hands on the stick and when you look threw the other side of the Thaumatrope you will see the pictures move.

22 December 06 - 09:41Synagogue
Yesterday all of P6 were going on a visit to the Synagogue. There was a guide called Barry. Barry was wearing a little hat called a skull hat. Barry showed us were the Rabi
(The minister) would stand to tell the people things. There was a massive ark. An ark is were they keep the Torah scrolls. Barry opened the ark to let us see the Torah scrolls. The scrolls were very long each of the scrolls had a crown like the Queen or King would wear. There was a light that stays on all the time. It was called the Ner Tamid. There was lovely pictures on the windows. There was also a star called the star of David.
I had fun.

On Wednesday I got a Certificate at Glen's Dog Training. I go there every Wednesday. I got a certificate for achievementbecause my dog Jess now knows sit, down and stay. She hasn't quite mastered to be let off her lead to be trained because she walks away when you give her into trouble. I'm lad I got a Certificate.

Today primary 6sj were making calendars for christmas.First we got a card each to draw on, you had to make a circle before drawing your picture and going to go over with black fine line pen.Once you had gone over your picture you had to stick on holly leaves then put on paper berries and then you were finished.or you can stick glitter on.

Today in class p6s/j made a Christmas Calender. To make the Christmas Calender you need to choose an old Christmas card and draw the image on to a circle peice of card. Then you need to cut out holly leave shapes and stick them round the circle to make a wreath kind of shape. Finally you put a peice of ribbon and a calender.

Today we made a christmas calendar by picking a old christmas card and copying the picture off of the card that we chose. Once we drew the picture we had to colour in then we got cut leave shapes round the picture then we had to cut berrys out of red shiney paper. After we did that we put glitter on.

Today we made Christmas calendars. We drew round a circle and cut it out. We picked one of Mrs Stewart's old christmas cards and we had to draw the picture onto our circle. Then we coloured them in with felt tip pens and coloured pencils. After that Mrs Stewart cut out some holy leaves and we stuck them around the side of the circle. Next we cut out little circles of shiney red paper and stuck them on the holy leaves so they looked like berries. Finally we got some glitter and made them look better.

Today P6S/J were making Christmas calenders. Mrs Stewart put some old Christmas cards on the floor then we had to pick a card with a picture that we liked the best then we had to draw it. We coloured in our pictures and then Mrs Stewart cut out some holly leaves of different shades of green and we stuck them around our pictures. Then we got some red shiny paper and cut out little balls so they were like berries we stuck 2 or 3 on our leaves. When we finished it we put glitter on the pictures only if you needed it though.
We all had fun!

18 December 06 - 08:04What I've learned about the Victorians
So far in our Victorians topic we have learned about the different jobs that poor victorian children had to do such as a chimney sweeper, miller, miner,being a servant for rich people and the street seller. Chimney sweepers had to be children because adults couldn't go down the hole of the chimney. The miller is where they would sew with big machines,adults couldn't get under the machines so the children who worked in the mills had to go under the machines and clean them when they were still on. Lots of children got killed in the mills. Girl millers had to wair brown,baggy and torn dresses. Boy millers had to wair a baggy top with baggy trousers. Both girls and boy millers were not aloud to wair shoes. Being a miller was the most dangerous job of all. Miners had to bring cole from the mines. Lots of people caught diseases from the mines. Being a servant of a rich person would have to be the best job that victorian children had to do, because if you were a servant in a big house and the rich family were kind you just might get a bed to sleep in and a shelter. Servants had to work in the kitchen making dinner, changing the sheets off of the beds and cleaning the house. Street sellers had to go about the streets selling anything they could find. The other thing I have learned is about different objects that have changed through the years such as the camera, wringer, oil and gas lamp,the floor beater and the teapot. The wringer is a handle that you need to turn so that the two cylinders turn round and take the water out of the bit of clothing that is in between the two cylinders. The wringer has changed into the tumble dryer.Victorians used the floor beaters to whip the dust out of the floor. The floor beater has changed into the hoover.

16 December 06 - 19:43My performance awards
Last Friday it was my performance awards at dancing. The performance awards was split into two parts, the first half was the set dance, pairs dance and the solo dance. At the pairs dance me and my partner had forgotten what to do so we just made it up but good the dudge hadn't yet chosen the winners of the pairs dance, because if the dudge has not yet chosen the winners we need to do the dance again untill the dudge had chosen the winners. Then at the second half it was hip-hop, cheerleeding and prize giving. My best dance in the second half was my hip-hop dance to Shakira's song called hip don't lie. AT the prize giving the winners of all the dances got a medal. I won two, one for coming in third at the set dance and one for the cheerleeding.

15 December 06 - 17:55Talent contest
It is now time for the talent contest in Sandaig. The talent contest is a show that people either in groups or alone go up on stage and peform either a dance, A play, Jokes other things. The heats for P6s are on Tuesday or Wednesday and the Contest is on Thursday. When the heats come you have to perfom infront of your class then at the end when everyone has performed everyone in P6 has to vote for who was the best. Only 2 people get through in to the contest. I am doing the talent contest too with my friend i hope i get through into the contest

On Monday two people came called Suzanne and Sandy came to the school to teach p6S/J, P6M, and some P5 some songs. Some of the songs we already knew like Build Up, Special kind of heroes and I'm the only I, but some of the songs had sign language. After playtime we had a concert. We had to teach some of the songs and actions that the younger ones didn't yet know because they were not at the rehersals.

On Monday we went to the hall and learned songs and sign language to go with the songs. People called Suzanne and Sandy taught us. Suzanne played the violin and Sandy played the guitar. Once we had learned the songs and sign language we had to sing the songs in front of the whole school and we only got 1 hour to learn all the songs and the sign language.
