About

This is the weblog of Sandaig Primary School.
Sandaig is in Barlanark in the city of Glasgow, Scotland.
A small experiment in the use of a weblog in a primary school.
A weblog can be all sorts of things, this one is going to start as a diary and link list by staff and pupils of Sandaig Primary. We will find out what to put on it as we go along.

+ 5 - 1 | § Merry Christmas

This has been a very fun and exciting week at school. The children had their Christmas parties and Santa visited all the infants and left sweets for the other children, the P6&7 children had their dance on Tuesday evening and had a great time. The "Wizard of Oz" was great fun and we all enjoyed watching it. We had a lovely Christmas service in the church and well done to P7 who all spoke out very well and really made us think about the meaning of Christmas.
As I write we are preparing for our "sparkly sing-a-long" which poves to be a big hit every year. We have a good week. I would now on behalf of all the staff like to wish you all a
VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS
and a HAPPY AND PEACEFUL NEW YEAR.

With my very best wishes
Miss McArthur

+ 5 - 1 | § Counting down to Christmas

Our Christmas Fayre on Friday was a great success. It was very busy with lots of you turning up to help us raise funds. I hope you feel you went away with some bargains! I would like to offer my thanks to everyone who donated items for the fayre, to George Ward for baking the superb Christmas cakes and to James Mullen for donating the signed football - both of which raised a lot of money through "guess the weight" and "raffling". A special thank you to the mums, dads and friends who helped on the day. A success like we have just had only happens with lots of help and contributions from everyone.
I haven't finished counting yet but I will let you know the total in the next newsletter.

The coming week looks to be be eventful. The main happening this week is the practising for the nativity. try to encourage your child to learn lines, if appropriate, and remember to send in the slip to book your tickets.
This Thursday the children who have been attending the cheereleading club will take part in a dancing show. Tickets for the show are available from the school office.
Regards
Moira McArthur

+ 5 - 0 | § Christmas Fayre is coming!

Our second non uniform day was, once again, a great success - with lots of wrapped gifts being donated. Some parents asked about handing their gift in this week as they forgot on Friday. No problem - all donations gratefully received!
This week ofcourse is the run up to the fayre and everyone at school will be busy getting things prepared. All donations can be handed in any time this week.
I am also looking for helpers for the fayre. There is a tear off slip on the letter which I will send home on Monday or Tuesday. Please send it back if you can help (or leave a comment here).

Activities this week include a P6 vist to the synagogue, P3 visit to a recycling centre, P1 & P7 visit to the church and P7 outing to the ice skating add to this the 'fun of the fayre' and it should be an interesting week.

I look forward to seeing many of you this week.
