Links: Archive |Entrythe six experiments

Yesterday p6s/j were doing science and it was all about vibration causing sound.
In the lesson we got out two tuning forks, a ping pong ball, and an ocean drum with lentils in it. On the other tables there were two balloons.
When we started we got given a sheet with a number beside a space for a sentence.
Then we started on our experiment my group started with number 6 and we had to wrap a comb in paper and then we had to blow in to it.
After that we went to number 5 and it was a drum with lentils in it we had to hold it up then tap the bottom of it.
Number 4 was easy because all we had to do was speak and put our hand on our throat.
Then we went to number 2 out at the sink in front of the class then we got a tune fork and taped it off the side of the sink and then taped it in the water and it made the water ripple.
The desk with number 3 and it was to put a balloon at your ear and some one would talk into the other end of the balloon.
Finally the last number 1 it was to use the tuning fork again and hit it off of the ping pong ball.
All of the experiments were really fun but my favourite was number 1 the only thing I didn’t really like was that after every thing we did we had to right what happened when we did the thing the sheet told us to do.

Yesterday at language time p6 were drawing cartoons about a poem called The Listeners.

We got into partners and started to draw and the one partner had to write about what the other partner was drawing.

We had to choose the 5 most important lines.

And then when we had finished the cartoon drawing we had to put colour into it.

Two days ago P 6s/j were using picnik a photo editor online in the computer room.
We had to go on to the internet and go into create and choose a frame the class chose
border as a frame we got to make text boxes and we had to fade them and change the edges. And we also had to add speech bubbles to tell what the people where saying and what they where doing.
On burns day we had read out Burn’s poems some of them being To a Louse and Tam o ‘Shanter. Some classes did Scot’s poems like I Pit It in the Washin Machine and last but not least Twa wee Meece.

Some of the poems where too long and some where very short like Tam O ‘Shanter is a very long poem and To a Louse is a shorter poem.

P6s/j have been working very hard and they like working on the computers very much especially because burns day is a Scottish tradition and we have been celebrating Burn’s day for centuries.

On the twenty fifth of January we had Robert Burn’s day in Sandaig.
We went to a assembly in the community centre.
Some classes did some poems and some classes did some songs.
Primary 6 S/J did To a Louse and Primary 6 T did a Fond kiss.
A piper came to play a Scottish tune for us and his name was Alastair.
After the assembly we had irn bru, haggis, turnip and shortbread.
Everyone enjoyed it. It was really fun.

Yesterday P6S/J did science. We are learning about sound and light. So far we have talked about sound. We were shown a model of an ear and we were told what and where everything was. There’s the outer ear, the ear drum and the smallest bones in the body the Hammer, the Anvil and the Stirrup.

Yesterday p6s/j were making pictures of Victorian children for our art activity. We used all different materials like denim and nylon. Some people made up there own designs and others copied out of a book. Picking materials was hard because it had to match our background. We made our backgrounds by mixing different colours of paint.

Yester day p6 started a new topic called sound and light her are some of the questions we made.
Does the sun reflect off the moon or go through it?
Does sound travel quicker than light?
How does a light bulb light up?
Why do we have light?
Why do fireflies light up at night?

We are very much looking forward to the answers.
