Today Michael Kerians the storyteller came in to Sandaig to tell us a story.
We did some actions when Michael told the story. We had pretend to be a river.
Michael told us we were going to help make up a story. Kieran in primary one said the story should be in Canada.
In the story weetom wanted to go over a waterfall in a barrel. His mum and dad said no.
weetom threw the barrel in the river but he forgot to let go. Uncle Dan saved weetom. Then the police had to save Uncle Dan and weetom.
We all enjoyed the story.

This month's Radio Sandaig show is now out.
Reports on school activities, chat and articles. This months show includes chat, reports, comments from all over the world and much more.
The children answer comments from Scotland, the USA and Thailand!
Special mention to Kimberley one of the Radio Sandaig regulars who did a great job of editing this month's show and started training a couple of primary sixes in the use of audacity.

Yesterday the three managers (in the picture above) had to sort out the jobs for the Art Exhibition on their own! One of the jobs were going to the office and phoning Mr Cohen to sort out the times for him to pick up the pictures. Another one was going around the school and collecting the pictures and checking if we had everyone's. We made posters for around the school and little posters for in the shops. The managers picked 2 people to type up letters to hand out to the parents. Jodie and Troy had to go and tell Miss Macarthur our ideas. The art exhibition is on Thursday the 8th of March. All the pictures are going to be professionally moulded.

Yesterday we have Miss Douce taught us some French.
She taught us some of the things you get in the garden these were un mur (wall) un banc (bench) un arbre (tree) une poubelle (bin) une balancoire (swing) des fleurs (flower) and le jardin means the garden. To ask what is in the garden in French you say Qu'est-ce qu'il y a? And to answer you say ill a y… and what is in the garden.

The primary seven's went to the science centre on Thursday the 11th to see all the inventions. At the start of the day we went to the first floor in the mall it had lots of amazing and interesting exhibits that we could look at or have a go on. On one of the floors there was a great bubble blower. After the first floor we went to see a 3D film in the Imax which was called A bugs Life 3D. During the film it looked like the butterflies were right in front of us everyone was trying to catch them. There were lots insects in the film and we learned lots of new information. We learned a lot about creatures and how they live and what they feed on in the Rainforest.
After we saw the film we went to second floor in the mall. It had a bridge that moved when you walked over it. The second floor had lots of puzzles and lots more. After the second floor we went to the third floor had a beach ball blower you had to get the ball throw the hoop and also it had a skeleton on a bike we you peddled the skeleton moved it's legs. It had lots of other fun things that we could do. Before we went we went to a show could only tools and forces, which was a science show, and we got to see great inventions. He picked volunteers from the audience to help him. One of his experiments was a potato gun and he shot it and some of it went on us. There were other experiments like a rocket after the show we went back to school. The primary seven's had a great day.

Yesterday p6sj had to choose three managers for an art exhibition that is happening on the 8th of March. We had to vote by telling the class why we would make a good manager, but if you didn't want to be a manager you had to make a mindmap of what we need to do at the art exhibition. All the class got a peice paper so they could vote for the people who wanted to be a manager. Then Mr. Johnston then had to count up all of the votes, and the people with the highest number of votes were the three managers. When all the votes were counted Mr Johnston told us the class who were the class managers, the managers are Charlene, Nicole and Caroline.

Today primary6m went to the media room to learn more things about our topic sound and light. We were using all different types of instruments on the computer like: a guitar, flute, drum and a bottle. We were learning about high pitch and low pitch noises e.g when you tighten the string on the guitar you get a higher pitch and when you loosen it, it gets a lower pitch.
We done a quiz at the end about the noises we did it together and we got 10 out of 10.

Last Friday Primary 6S/J were doing R.E. We were learning about the story The Lost Son. It was about a boy who wanted his father to sell his farm so that the son would get his half of the money. So the boy got lots of money and he left the farm. He went to a pub and met friends. They were only his friends because he had lots of money. When the money ran out his friends left him. The boy found a job of working with pigs but the boy was so hungry he ended up eating pig food. The boy hated his job so much that he went home to his father. When his father saw him he ran up to him hugging him saying that he thought he was dead. Then his father had a celebration but his other brother was not happy that he didn't get a party. The other brother was furious but then when his father said to him that your brother is alive we thought he was dead but he is still living the other brother joined in the party. THE END. We really enjoyed the story.

Mrs Laird stopped everyone and said when you are finished you take a paintbrush and water and put your paintbrush into the water, and spread it over the ink with the water to smudge it, and then cut it out. After that we had to stick our pictures onto our background.

We had a visit from the Edinburgh Science Centre yesterday, they explained lots about the Water Cycle and we did lots of exciting experiments, here is a wee movie of one: Four primary Seven pupils have been working hard in their spare time to finish this movie. The girls took photos and shot video footage of Christmas activity around the school. The photos were made into slideshows with commentary and video footage was edited in on iMovie.

Yesterday p6s/j were on the computers and we were leaving comments on other peoples blogs. Then we looked to see if anybody left comments on our blog and then we commented back.
It is good to comment on peoples blogs because, you can make new friends, have conversations and learn together.
If you get a comment on your blog it makes you happy and makes you want to write more.

On Friday p6m did RE and got told a story about a boy who ran away from home because he did not want to work on his dad's farm. And went away with his share of the money. He went and got loads of pals, but when he got broke all of his pals went away. Then he decided to get a job at a pig farm and it was disgusting and while he was lying in bed he thought about his home. He decided to go back to his own house and when he got back his dad took him back in but his brother went ballistic but eventually he realised that his brother had been through a hard time.

Yesterday in the media room p6.m were finishing their myths. Mr Johnston showed us how to put pictures to go with the myths. We went on a website called pics4learning. If your myths were about snow you would type snow to find a picture of snow. We then copied them and pasted them on the document but we had to let people know where the picture comes from, this is called attribution. At the end we printed twice and took one home and gave the other one to Mr Johnston.

Today we were learning all the different parts of the body. We were playing a game where you had to put on the mouth, esaphagus, stomach, small intestine and the large intestine. We were also playing a game were you place the food into the mouth. Once it went into your mouth it would be pushed down your oesophagus and into your stomach, then into the small intestine and lastly your large intestine. When we were finished we got handed out a sheet of paper and you have to join the words to the matching words. On the bottom of the sheet we wrote a story about our digestive system.

Hello, here we are at Sandaig Primary School - meeting the kids and teachers. We have shown them all where Belmore South Primary School is in Sydney, we talked about the weather, how cold it is here and how hot it is in Sydney. Primary 6J wanted to know about Steve Irwin and where he lived and we talked about snakes, spiders and koala bears. Some of the students have family and friends living in Australia, some come from other countries such as China and we found them to be just like the kids in Australia!

The Sandaig kids are really good writers, and they use the computers to publish and communicate their ideas and work for other students to read about - all over the world! We loved their media suite and think they are doing some really cool things with Mr Johnston and Mrs Stewart. Ms McArthur showed us around their beautiful open planned school followed by morning tea with the rest of the staff.

Recently at language time p6m have been working on phenomena myths about natural things and how they came to the world for example, rain storm, sand storm, snow and volcano.
Like a rainstorm could be god crying and a volcano is a dragon being sick.
We talked about how we felt when we saw lighting and how we felt when we saw a rainbow.
Some people said happy when trhey saw a rainbow and when they saw lighting they felt excited or scared.
When we wrote the myth some people put in god, Hercules, or Dragons. For example Hercules crushes paper into snow or god cries and it turns into frozen tears whch is a hailstone.

Yesterday we were doing our science topic about sound. We were doing experiments about vibrations. We were using different things they were; 2 toilet tubes, (1 long 1 short) a spring drum and water, a drum with rice and our fingers and our necks.
We used the toilet tubes for talking into and looking at if we could see or hear the vibrations. It came out that some people said that the long one was stronger and the short one was weaker and some other people said that the short one was stronger and the long one was weaker.
We used the spring drum to see if we could see the water start to ripple. We had to shake the drum and then put the spring at the top of the water and the water started to shake.
We got a drum and started to tap it and the rice started to shake and the drum made a noise. Then we put are fingers on are necks and talked and it vibrated.
Then we wrote a report about our best experiment. We had fun trying different experiments.
