Today p6S/J were doing fruits for art and they were really good. We used the painting we did last time, and tore it into bits to make the fruit. Then we made some plates with designs on them we were allowed to do what ever we wanted on the plarte design.

We will put a picture of all the art when it is finished.

Last week Dynamic Dave came in we all had to dress up either as; Indians, Eskimos, Police or Vikings. We all had to do a play with our costumes on, every group got a different play to do.
The Indians had 4 people in their group 2 people were Indians and the 2 other people were Cowboys the Cowboys had alcohol and the Indians had animal skins and they traded each other.
The Eskimos had 4 people in their group 2 people were Eskimos and the other 2 were Indians the Eskimos were fishing when the Indians came and said "you must be cold" and they gave them a glass of alcohol and they Eskimos fell to the ground because they hurt themselves.
The police had 2 police woman and a person in a bar and a barman the person kept on wanting alcohol and got sent out of the bar and the policewoman came and held the person in a wheelbarrow to the police station.
Finally the Vikings had 6 people too the first 2 people were getting married and there was a best man then when they were drinking they got attacked by Vikings.

Primary 6S/J have been meeting up with Mrs McBride to learn about Playground Pals. The Playground Pals have to play games and explain them to the little ones. They have to wear reflective jackets that say Playground Pals on the back and front. This is all part of the Bannerman New Learning Community, it also says this on the front. There are special games packs that tell us games and their rules. There will be a routine up at the school entrance telling us who it will be each day. We will start this in November.

I went to see Guys and Dolls in the Kings Theatre. It's a musical set in New York City about gamblers, their girlfriends and the Mission workers. My three favourite songs were 'Sit down you're rockin the boat', 'Luck be a lady tonight' and 'Havana'. My two favourite parts were when the two girls were fighting - they were kicking, punching and slapping each other. My other one was when Adelaide and Sarah got married. It was the best play I'd ever seen! It's the best musical ever too!

We started off talking about a picture that Renoir the artist painted and techniques he used to paint. Then we went out and got paints and paint trays then we got paint and put it in the trays. After we got everything ready we started to paint. We had to dab the paintbrush onto the paper in the different shades.
We used three colours one of your choice and black and white.
We mixed them to make different shades of the same colour.
We had to cover the page so you could not see any white.
After the paint has dried we will tear it up and make fruit pictures with it.

Yesterday P6 s/j did an experiment about insulators and conductors. We had to make a circuit with two wires and a battery and a light bulb.
We had to connect them together to make a circuit. Then we had to use three wires and two batteries and a light bulb holder and do the same.
When we connected the two wires together and the third one to the bulb the bulb lit up then when we put a staple remover between the two wires and it still light up.
When we put a rubber between the wires it didn't work, this is because that electricity only runs through conductors like metal but rubber is an insulator.
We all enjoyed doing it. Everyone made their light bulb light up.
Click on the picture to see a wee movie.

The green group is reading The Pyramid of Doom. It is a graphic novel; this is a cartoon book with speech bubbles.
The Pyramid of Doom is a fictional adventure story.
It is about archaeologists who break into a pyramid.
The book is a fantastic story; we are really enjoying it because there are good characters. Dr Baxter is our favourite character because he runs about, saves people and is funny.
When we read the book we read it in character.

Today primary 6 S/J started to write about cities in Scotland. This was for our Scotland topic. Mr Johnston printed off information of a website called Wikipedia. Wiwipedia is a Encyclopaedia that everyone can add to. Then we were put into groups and had to find out about that city. The cities were Aberdeen, Perth, Dundee, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness. Next time we have to write on a A3 piece of paper. When we are finshed each group has to tell the rest of the class about the city that they learned about.

On Saturday I went to too a place in Fife to see the Leuchars air show. There were lots of different kinds of planes and helicopters doing lots of stunts and making a lot of noise. I went for a walk with my Mum to see if there was anything that I wanted. When we were coming back we saw lots of teddies with a plane called the Red Arrow which done the most amazing stunts. When we got back I got lunch I had a banana. After I had finished my lunch I stood beside my Mum to see the planes go past. Before we went home we waited for the Red Arrow crew came to the crew room. The crew room is where you can ask questions or get something signed. We took about ten minutes to get my teddy signed by all the crew. Then we went to see the last few planes fly past.

Today we had assembly. We were told who had won the golden otter. The class that has the best attendance will win the golden otter. This time it was a tie between primary 1m and primary 6S/J. So they made another golden otter so that it would be fair.
Every week when we have an assembly at least two people from every class gets a star, the people in our class were Melissa and Troy, Melissa got her star for neat handwriting in all her work. Troy got his star for working well in all areas. You can see a golden otter and a bank otter and a cuddely otter that kris brought in.

Links: Archive |Entryelectricity games

On Wednesday primary six were doing electricity. We made a circuit. Kris was the lamp, Melissa was the switch, and Stephen was the battery. We used a rope as the wire. When we moved the rope Kris’ hands started to burn. We learned that if we want electricity we need a circuit. The electricity generates heat, which makes a light bulb shine.

Two weeks into school we started art lessons. First we drew the person next to us then coloured them in. We used A3 paper so we could make the drawing really big.
Week three; all the class drew cats looking out the window to roads and buildings.
We all did it on A3 paper because the picture was big.
Plus we all did an art competition. We had to draw a teacher in the school. Then
All the winners from each class went on the Staff page

P7s has been doing science first we looked at solids we used a plastic ruler, plastic cup, wood top of the desk, metal leg of the chair, scissors, pen and a paint tray. We had to figure out a definition for the solids.
Then we looked at liquids. We used test tubes, green tray, cup, plastic tub and measuring cup.
We found out liquid has a fixed volume but no fixed shape and a solid has a fixed shape and a fixed volume.

our books

World war two is our first topic it is great I enjoy it a lot we have being listening to and singing songs about evacuation and planes in music.
In the WWII topic we learned that Adolf Hitler was the leader of Germany and the Nazi party. He started the Nazi party to build up Germany's power.
We are researching World War 2 to find out more information using these books.

Today some children were doing some work on a reading and language skills book the other children were doing a work sheet about Toothie and Cat. We had to look at the underlined words and change them into the present tense. The second part we had to change them back into the past tense.
e.g So he slunk round the corner till he came to a dark staircase.
So he slinks round ther corner until he comes to a dark staircase.

Primary 6 were all doing PCM2 today it was about synonyms we had to look at the word that was underlined and change it to a better word that means the same. Synonyms mean a group of words that all have the same meaning. The Stars and the Suns were doing reading. The Suns reading book is The Pyramid Of Doom and the stars reading book is Very Best Friend. We were also learning about metaphors and similes. A metaphor is something that is true about something. A simile is something that is like something but it is not.
