Primary Five have been learning how to write settings for stories.First we had to think about where our story was set. We had to think about the mood or atmosphere, for example, if the story was scary, mysterious, exciting, happy, sad, thrilling or a horror story.
We had to think about what time of day it was, what the weather was like. For example a frightening story might have thunder and lightning.
We had to use powerful verbs and adjectives. We had to think of similies, for example 'the wind was zooming past the windows like a powerful jet'. We had to think of sounds and smells, like a beach would smell of salt.
We had to think about sights, and use strong adjectives like the sea was 'glistening'.
We enjoyed writing story settings and produced some excellent work.
Look out for some of our story settings soon on the Sandaig Website.

Primary 4m's topic this term is Knights and Castles.
We made 'twin castles' for our art last week.
Here is what we did.
We had this equipment:
Coloured paper, one sheet of white card, scissors, glue, and a pencil.
First we drew a castle on the coloured paper. We had to cut it out in one piece. We had to glue the castle and the outline of the castle on to the card. We had to be careful to leave a space between the pieces of paper and to line them up.
We had to cut out doors, windows, moon and a flag to stick on.
It was fun and they look really good up on the wall.

We played a game called the stand up job game. The teacher reads out skills and qualities and if you have them you stay standing if you don’t then you sit down. At the end the teacher tells you what you have the skills to be e.g. plumber.
It was a good lesson and Miss Smith will come back in P7.

Last week primary 4 went on a bus tour around Glasgow. We saw the City Chambers in George Square. The oldest house in Glasgow is called Provands Lordship and is on Castle Street. Although it was a bit rainy we still got a good view from the window of all the places in Glasgow. We went to the Mitchell Library for lunch and had a quiz to see if we had been listening to our guides! We really enjoyed our trip and learned a lot about Glasgow.

Primary 3 decided to do an assembly about recycling because we were learning about it. We wanted to tell everybody about it so that they will try to remember not to stick things in the bin. Instead they should re-use or recycle it.
We worked hard on our assembly and learned a poem all about recycling. The poem was useful as it tells people not to throw things on the ground.
The poem tells us: We have got to start recycling it is up to me and you. (more)

On Friday the school went into the gym hall to see a play called wee sleekit cow’rin, tim’rous beastie. The people who did this show for us was Hopscotch Theatre Company. They were very good at the play as they usually are. We have seen them at least 5 times and we have enjoyed them all. What the play was about was a famous poet called Robert Burns when he owned a farm. Then he realized there was a little mouse sneaking about. Robert Burns tried to catch the mouse but the mouse was far to sneaky for Robert Burns. A few days later he became a friend with mouse and met the landlords daughter and he fell in love. The landlord didn’t want her to see Robert Burns anymore.
Then Robert thought his life was over and went to the harbour to sail away and he left his friend a note saying he will be back in a few years. The landlords daughter got to see him again because the Landlord liked his poems because he had sold out his poems and thought that he should let them see each other after all. They were so lucky to catch Robert because the boat was just about to sail away. Then they lived happily ever after

Primary 5 have painted some nightime cityscapes.
First we looked at photographs of cities on the internet and at some pictures from last year.
We sketched the city skyline and then went over it in black crayon.
We drew in windows in yellow to make it look as if the light was on.
We drew a moon with a white crayon and then painted over the sky with blue paint, this makes the moon look shiny. Lastly we glued glitter on the sky to make stars.
Then we put the pictures on black paper and took photos of our own picture.
You can see our Night Cityscapes we hope you enjoy the pictures, leave us a comment if you do.
