In Sandaig p6 are learning about Victorians and the class enjoy the topic.
We looked at objects we have got a chamber pot in our classroom and a steel iron.
How to use a Victorians iron, you put the iron on the stove and then you would spit on it just to see if it was hot enough.
A chamber pot, the chamber pot is for doing the toilet in. They would have a chamber pot under there bed and if you needed the toilet instead of running all the way outside you would just pull it out, then in morning the maids would come and collect it.

We looked at a Victorians kitchen to see if it was different there was a big change.
If you walked in to an Victorians kitchen you see pots and pans all over the place it would be very smelly.

Yesterday we watched the Infant Nativity Rehersal of Mend the Manger.
In this story the donkey broke the manger because he was clumsy. The donkey and his owner, the inn keeper, went to see the carpenter and asked him to fix the manger.
There were some funny parts in the play. The inn keeper's wife was very bossy and the donkey sang a sad song about being clumsy, lots of people thought this was funny!
Overall the audiance thought it was brilliant. The angels were exquisite, the donkey was hillarious and singing was lovely.

Last Friday we told the children all about plays, then we performed a play that we had written about a monkey.
We wrote dialogue between characters and worked out what would happen in all three scenes.
We rehearsed our lines, added actions, brought in costumes and used expression in our voices.
Everyone had a part to play and some information to tell the children about writing a play.
It was very exciting and the children thought it was funny. The monkey had escaped from the zoo and caused a lot of trouble down the high street. The shopkeeper caught the monkey in a box and the zoo keeper took him away. Click more to see pictures of the cast. (more)

I can see the trees, the leaves have turned to brown although there are very little left on the trees. As the season changes from autumn to winter.
This makes me happy because Christmas is getting near. When I look up to the sky at night I can see the twinkling stars shining bright in a clear sky. This makes me realise that how cold it is outside, I am glad to be inside in the warmth. I can see the car passing by; their headlights show the glinting with frost. The cars are slowing down on the corner to avoid skidding. The whole scene from my window reminds me winter is here and hopefully soon the snow will come. I am excited about this, as I will be able to build a snowman and play snowball fights.

From my window the first thing I can see is my log cabin playhouse that my Dad built for me in 1999.
When I was in nursery I would go down to my garden with my friends or even my self and play with my toys. My playhouse is so full with toys and special things.
I also have a swing right next to my house and my friend and I always see how high we can go on it which is great fun too.
In my playhouse I still had toys in it from when I was a baby and toys that I couldn’t remember playing with, but I have recently changed it with help from my Dad.
We have transformed my crowded playhouse in to a den with three great chairs(1 leather, 1 rocking and a cool deck chair) and just a few toys on each of the chairs, and I have pinned some soft toys to the roof.
The rest of the baby toys I have gave away to charity and I hope that someone else will have as much fun as I have had.
Now my playhouse is a place where I can think about my feelings and thoughts. It is my own space, where I feel happy and relaxed and I can still have my friends into play or we can just hang out. my playhouse has grown with me and I will continue to grown with it.

If you live in Scotland and want to tell us about where you live please email our teacher Mr Johnston or post a comment here.

Primary 4S have been asked to organise the Christmas Post Box. Miss McArthur sent us a letter because she needed help to collect, sort and deliver the cards that the children bring for their friends and the teachers.
First we had to make sure the post box was empty and not broken. Then we brought in shoe boxes to make a sorting office. Finally we had to decide on a rota for the deliveries and the times for collections.
We are looking forward to being The Otter Post and hope that we deliver all the cards before the 21st of December.
