Primary six went to Giffnock synagogue. The boys had to wear a hat, The girls did not have to wear anything special. The ever lasting light look interesting. There was an rabbi at the synagogue. They had a glass stain window with the star of David on it. The synagogue was in a community centre. All writing was done in Hebrew and English. There were about seven Torah scrolls in the Ark.
We were taken round by Barry who told us all about the Synagogue. Christopher asked how many people the Synagogue held, Barry did not know. But Barry phoned the school today to tell us the answer was 900.

Scotland Street School

On Friday the 21st of January P7 went to Scotland Street School. When we first got there the girls went into a single file line and were split up from the boys. Then we went up to a changing room to get into the uniforms that girls would have worn in World War 2, the boys did the same. Next we were taken to the door of the classroom and were told to go into single lines again. The teacher came out and told four girls to come in and four boys. First we recited our times tables then we got out our slates. Next we did a big maths looking at money in those days. Then the teacher gave out a quill and a piece of lined paper we had to write our names and the date at the top of it then we did some spelling we had to write –coupon, evacuation and some other words out three times then the teacher read a prayer out a book then the teacher sang a song called God save the King. Then she told us to shut our eyes and put down our heads while she said a prayer and when she was finished that was the end of the class. It was very interesting to see what it would have been like to be at school during war times but the teacher was very very scary! We would not have liked that much!

snow balls

Yesterday it snowed at playtime I went to take some photos, but had to run back in under heavy fire!!
We wrote some poems about our snowy playtime here they are.

Mr Johnston

A snowy playtime,
A big surprise.
Every one running,
Every one shouting,
Fingers numb,
What will we do?
We all fell happy,
We all fell glad,
What a surprise.
